Maldives Immigration Reflects Back On The Year 2020

A common thing we see amongst people at the end of a year is reflecting back on it in order to recognize and celebrate our achievements. In this regard, ‘Kashavaru 2020’; was a special ceremony held by Maldives Immigration on yesterday, for the very same purpose. The ceremony was special guested by the Managing Director of MMPRC, Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed.

Via a video presentation showed at the ceremony, strides accomplished under the Maldives Immigration’s Strategic Plan 2020-2024 and the Maldivian Government’s Strategic Plan 2019-2023.
Significant effort was put to make their services more easily accessible, to amplify their operations and migration policies by strengthening the border security. Accordingly, digitalization of their Immigration Services were highlighted such as the introduction of its online portal ‘Imuga’ whilst shifting to provide a good amount of its services online. Apart from this, its current service portfolios at three islands were also increased.

Moreover, they had introduced recognition awards for immigration officers in addition to launching ‘Diploma in Immigration Enforcement Studies’, a first of its kind in the Maldives.

Apart from this, an information exchange deal was made between Maldives Immigration & Maldives Monetary Authority was mention. Furthermore, to strengthen border security and also counter terrorism, Maldives Immigration collaborated with international partners to conduct a workshop. Training was provided to a total of 102 immigration officers in 11 related categories whereas training was also facilitated to 18 persons working at institutions having a correlation to immigrations.

The most important highlight of the year 2020 for Maldives Immigration is the introduction of ‘Maldives Border Miles’, the world’s first destination loyalty program.
