On Monday, it was announced that Qatar Airways & Oman Air will be expanding their Codeshare Agreement. The codeshare which was initially signed in the year 2000, will be strengthened with additional destinations as we are approaching 2021.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, codeshares are a great tool for both airlines and passengers as it allows airlines to access an additional demographic of travelers who may not otherwise choose to fly with them. This opens a more diverse network of destinations that can be reached on a single flight booking, even if the booking airline does not even fly there.
Qatar Airways & Oman Air has been partnering up for over two decades. At present, Oman Air passengers are able to access three destinations operated by Qatar Airways which is about to get a massive boost. Accordingly, from next year onwards Qatar Airways will begin flying Oman Air passengers to 65 destinations across Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. This relationship will work in both directions, with Qatar Airways passengers getting access to six more destinations flown to by Oman Air.
Both the airlines note that the codeshare will be subject to global travel policy changes in respective to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
