Mayor of Male' City Council, Adam Azim, has announced the establishment of new local markets, including fish markets, with significant assistance from the government. This collaboration is expected to benefit the Council, the government, and the city's residents substantially.
During a program aired on PSM News, Mayor Azim revealed that ongoing efforts to develop and advance the fish market were initiated under the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure at the beginning of his tenure. He emphasized the Council's commitment to supporting the government's developmental initiatives.
Mayor Azim also pointed out that the two land plots initially allocated for a temporary market were insufficient to meet the needs of the existing market cells. Consequently, an additional land plot has been designated and handed over to the ministry.
The government plans to develop a seven-storey local fish market, addressing space constraints and providing dedicated parking areas to alleviate traffic congestion. The establishment of a permanent market will commence once the temporary market development is completed.
This initiative is part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's vision to consolidate market services under one roof, with the government reporting substantial progress on various aspects of the project. The new market developments are set to enhance the infrastructure and economic landscape of Male' City, offering improved facilities and better services for residents and businesses alike.
