Campaigning For Road Safety Awareness Through ‘Rakkaa Road Safety Run’

A press conference was held today jointly by the Maldives Police Services and Allied Insurance Company Limited for the purpose of launching a collaborative effort; ‘Rakkaa Road Show 2020’. The ‘Rakkaa Roadshow’ is an annual nationwide campaign which has been held since 2014, for the purpose of promoting road safety awareness amongst the general public. Although due to unfortunate reasons the campaign was not held in the past two years, this year, its making a grand return. Accordingly, several activities have been planned to carry out as part of the campaign in both Male’ City and islands. The first of such will be the ‘Rakkaa Road Safety Run’.

‘Rakkaa Road Safety Run’ is set to commence on 8th January 2021 at 4pm in Hulhumale’ City. The run will continue until 6pm of 16th January 2021. It is based on the total number of road accidents which has been recorded in the nation between 2018 and 2020, being; 5665. This number shall continue to get deducted for each kilometer a participant completes.

Registrations were opened today for the run. In this regard, you can complete your registration though the Run for Maldives’ website. The deadline for registrations is 31st December, so hurry, hurry! No fees will be incurred for registrations. Participants of the run will be provided t-shirts and medals containing road safety awareness messages
