The Business Center Corporation (BCC) recently inked a deal with the Addu City Council to acquire land for a new garment factory, signaling a boost to the local economy and job market. The agreement, signed by BCC's Deputy Managing Director Samih Adam and Deputy Mayor Mohamed Shuaau, aims to revitalize the garment industry in Addu City.
The new factory, set to be established soon, is expected to create employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and reduce dependency on imports. Moreover, it will pave the way for increased participation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the region's industrial landscape.
Addu City once thrived with a garment factory, but its closure due to lack of government support left a void. With this new venture, stakeholders are optimistic about reigniting economic activity and fostering local entrepreneurship.
