After much delay due the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the National Awards 2020, was held last night; also coinciding with this year’s National Unity Day. The awards were presented in 33 categories this time around whereas the winners were selected by the National Awards Committee which was put together by the President for the task. At the grand event held last night, the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, presented awards for a total of 62 individuals.
Accordingly, 14 individuals were conferred the National Award of Honor. Out of these 14 individuals, 6 had won the National Award of Recognition in previous years. Recipients received a shield of honor and a badge of honor. The 14 winners in no particular order, are:

8. Dr Jumailath Beygum, for her contributions in the areas of Raising Awareness and Promoting Public Health through the Health Sector.

The National Award for Special Achievement was also conferred to 24 individuals. Honorees include of one individual who had achieved exceptional distinction in completing studies at MQA rank 10; 13 individuals who achieved the highest rank in an academic or training course; 6 individuals who attained the highest rank in an international competition or exhibition and 4 individuals who memorized the Holy Quran entirely while attaining the highest grade.

Moreover, the President had also bestowed the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Muleege Dynasty and the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty to two persons. Ibrahim Ismail Ali is the recipient of the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Muleege Dynasty whilst Badu Naseer is the recipient of the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty.
