Maldives Clarifies New Sri Lanka Tourist Visa Process

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives has issued a statement to clarify the recent changes to Sri Lanka’s tourist visa scheme, ensuring that Maldivian travelers can navigate the new system with ease.
In light of Sri Lanka's introduction of a new e-visa system, the Ministry has been actively engaged in discussions with Sri Lankan counterparts to facilitate a smooth transition for Maldivians visiting the neighboring country.
Currently, Maldivians can enjoy a free 30-day tourist visa upon arrival in Sri Lanka. For those planning longer stays, a free six-month visa is available online at Sri Lanka eVisa, although an administrative fee applies.
For Maldivians already in Sri Lanka who need to extend their visas, the Maldives High Commission in Colombo is ready to assist with the process. This ensures that Maldivian citizens can manage their stay without unnecessary complications.
The Ministry is committed to ensuring that the visa process aligns with the existing visa agreement between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, aiming for reciprocal benefits for Maldivian travelers.
