Maldives' Ambassador Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed Presents Credentials to UN Secretary-General

In a significant diplomatic ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations, presented his Letter of Credence to Secretary-General António Guterres.
During the proceedings, Ambassador Ali Naseer conveyed warm greetings from Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to Secretary-General Guterres and reiterated the Maldivian government's dedication to fostering strong ties with the United Nations.
Appointed by President Muizzu on May 7th, 2024, Ambassador Ali Naseer brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Previously serving as Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he led the President-elect's Transition Committee on Foreign Relations before President Muizzu's inauguration in November 2023.
Ambassador Ali Naseer boasts an extensive career in the Maldives Foreign Service, spanning nearly four decades. His diverse roles have included Director-General for External Resources, Director-General for Political Affairs, Additional Secretary for Policy Planning, Foreign Secretary, Ambassador to the United States and Canada, Permanent Representative to the United Nations (2017-2019), and Secretary, Multilateral.
With a strong academic background, Ambassador Ali Naseer holds a PhD in International Relations from the Australian National University, an MA from Leicester University in the United Kingdom, and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Sydney, Australia.
As the Maldives' new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ali Naseer Mohamed stands poised to represent his country's interests on the global stage, fostering collaboration and engagement with the international community.
