In a bid to streamline work visa and passport services, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has initiated significant changes aimed at improving accessibility and efficiency. Effective immediately, the Controller General of Immigration (CGI), has introduced a new online queueing system, named "Ant Queue," for the issuance of numbers for work visas and passports.
Previously, applicants were required to physically visit the Immigration Department to submit their passports after applying for a work visa, leading to lengthy wait times and inconvenience. Acknowledging the need for a more modern and user-friendly approach, the Immigration Department has transitioned its services online, aligning with contemporary demands and technological advancements.
The newly implemented online system revolutionizes the application process, allowing users to obtain their queue numbers remotely and monitor their position in the queue in real-time. This innovative approach not only saves time but also facilitates a smoother and more convenient service experience for applicants.
Under the revamped system, applicants can obtain their queue numbers through the "Ant Queue" application during designated time slots, based on the number of passports being submitted. Those with fewer than five passports can secure their numbers between 9:00 am and 10:30 am, while applicants submitting six or more passports can obtain their numbers between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm.
To acquire a queue number, applicants need to input their relevant details, such as their PPH number and box number from the submission receipt, into the "Ant Queue" application and upload the receipt. The system accommodates multiple PPH numbers or box numbers as required, ensuring flexibility and ease of use for applicants.
By embracing digital innovation and implementing online queueing systems, the Immigration Department aims to enhance service accessibility and efficiency, catering to the evolving needs of its stakeholders. These transformative changes represent a significant step towards modernizing administrative processes and fostering a more seamless interaction between government agencies and citizens.
As the Maldives continues to embrace digitalization and harness the power of technology to improve public services, the introduction of the online queue system for work visa and passport services marks a pivotal moment in the nation's journey towards greater efficiency and customer satisfaction.
