Ministry of Tourism reveals plans to position Maldives as a leading global tourist destination by aiming to host the ITB Berlin Fair in 2026. Minister Ibrahim Faisal highlighted Maldives' popularity as a tourist hotspot and expressed ambitions to host the world's largest tourism fair. Discussions will be held with stakeholders to prepare for the event. The ITB Fair, traditionally held in Berlin, offers countries the chance to host, with the latest edition hosted by Oman. Hosting countries enjoy the privilege of organizing the fair's opening ceremony and other associated events. Maldives previously hosted the ITB Fair in 2016, aiming to leverage such prestigious platforms to bolster its tourism industry.
