President Unveils Plan for 20 New Resorts Nationwide, Promising Economic Boost

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on his tour of Kolhumadulu Atoll, revealed plans to kickstart the development of at least 20 resorts nationwide within the year, heralding a significant economic boon for the Maldives.
Addressing residents of Madifushi Island, President Muizzu underscored his administration's steadfast commitment to facilitating the island's development aspirations while highlighting a strategic focus on bolstering the tourism sector. His vision aims to position the Maldives as a premier tourist destination, appealing to investors and ensuring long-term sustainability.

During discussions with local councils, the President emphasized the importance of prioritizing developmental projects in alignment with community needs. He reaffirmed the government's pledge to empower councils, granting them greater fiscal autonomy to drive economic progress at the local level.
President Muizzu also outlined measures to address housing shortages, including the introduction of loans, and initiatives to enhance the financial stability of state-owned enterprises.
Residents of Madifushi Island articulated their pressing needs, ranging from infrastructure improvements to coastal protection and clean water provision. Their proposals, including the integration of nearby islands under Madifushi jurisdiction and the construction of a causeway linking Dhiyamigili and Madifushi, were met with consideration and discussion.
President Muizzu's visit to Madifushi Island marks the third leg of his comprehensive tour, signaling the government's proactive engagement with local communities to foster inclusive development and economic prosperity across the Maldives.
