Island Aviation Services Ltd (IASL) is set to elevate Hanimaadhoo International Airport's status as a regional travel hub by expanding its flight operations to various cities in India. Currently limited to Trivandrum, India, IASL's Deputy Managing Director, Ali Saleem, shared with state media the company's vision for substantial growth from the airport.
Saleem emphasized the initiative to not only resume flights to Trivandrum but also to introduce new routes to prominent Indian cities. The expansion plan is in its early stages, with IASL's commercial team conducting meticulous research and seeking input from stakeholders to align with market needs.
Speaking about the strategic significance of connectivity, Saleem mentioned ongoing discussions about potential flights to Bangalore and other areas, expressing optimism about positive outcomes.
The announcement coincides with the temporary suspension of flights from Hanimaadhoo to Trivandrum, attributed to airport development. However, with the imminent completion of a new runway segment, IASL anticipates a swift resumption and an overall expansion of international flight operations.
As IASL progresses with its expansion strategy, Hanimaadhoo International Airport is poised to become a bustling hub, offering enhanced connectivity and travel options for passengers exploring India and beyond. The company's vision aligns with the growing demand for accessible regional travel, promising a new era for Hanimaadhoo as a gateway to diverse destinations in India.
