Maldives Tourism Minister Sets Ambitious Goal of 2.3 Million Tourists for 2024

Speaking at the Maldives Youth Hackathon launch, Minister Faisal expressed confidence in exceeding the initial goal of 2 million tourists for 2024. He emphasized the significance of maintaining consistent tourist numbers from key markets such as China and India. Faisal envisioned the hackathon as a catalyst for developing innovative platforms comparable to industry giants like Booking.com and Agoda.
Despite recording 1.8 million visitors last year, Faisal believes that strategic efforts with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) can elevate arrivals to 2.3 million by year-end. The minister's forward-looking approach involves creating specialized applications and platforms tailored to enhance the tourist experience, reflecting the government's commitment to advancing the tourism sector through technology and collaboration.
