Ooredoo Maldives Invites Applications for Director Position on Board of Directors

Ooredoo Maldives Plc. has officially announced the commencement of the application process for the position of Director on the Board of Directors. This opportunity is open to qualified individuals who meet the specified criteria, and the selected Director will represent the general shareholders of Ooredoo Maldives.
Applicants for this prestigious position are required to fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Be a shareholder of Ooredoo Maldives or be nominated by a legal entity shareholder (with board resolution support).
  2. Possess qualifications and competencies outlined in the Companies Act 2023, the Corporate Governance Code, and the "Fit and Proper" Guidelines for Directors of Listed Companies.
  3. Hold a degree from an internationally recognized university.
  4. Have at least 10 years of senior-level experience in the public or private sector.
  5. Demonstrate experience as a Board Director of at least one active company with a proven record of contribution.
  6. Currently not serving as a Board Director of more than two companies listed on the Maldives Stock Exchange.
  7. Not have served on the board of a competitor or regulator within the past 12 months.
  8. Not be a current or recent employee of Ooredoo Maldives or a competitor.
  9. No immediate family member (spouse and children) should be employed by Ooredoo Maldives or a competitor.
  10. Should not have a conflict of interest and must make independent and impartial decisions.

In addition to these criteria, the applicant should possess qualities such as integrity, wisdom, financial literacy, business acumen, responsibility, cooperation, and strategic thinking.
Ooredoo Maldives is particularly encouraging applications from women to promote gender diversity on the Board of Directors.
The Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC) will evaluate the applications and present recommendations to the Board of Directors. The details of eligible applicants will be communicated to shareholders, and the election will take place during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for March 2024.
