In November, it was announced that a ‘travel bubble’ would be established between Maldives and the State of Qatar, through the flag carrier of Qatar, Qatar Airways.
The concept of a ‘travel bubble’ is fairly new to the world as it only came to existence this year as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic. In simple terms, it is an exclusive partnership establishing between two countries demonstrating significant success in containing the virus within their respective borders. Under this partnership, the countries will allow citizens from each of them to travel freely between the countries without the requirement of a quarantine or a self-isolation period.
Through the ‘travel bubble’ form between Maldives and the State of Qatar, Qatar nationals and Qatari based residents travelling to Maldives via Qatar Airways had been enabled to experience a hassle free holiday by eliminating the process of a quarantine or self-isolation upon returning home following a visit to the Maldives.
Initially, it was set that bookings under this package could only be made up until 24th December, whereas the travel time has been allocated from 1st December to 7th January. With the new changes, bookings can be made now to the 15th January 2021, for a travel deadline set at 31st January 2021.
Your stay, however, must exceed 5 days for the package to be of effect. Three luxurious resorts have been specially reserved for those arriving in Maldives via the ‘travel bubble’ being; Sandies Bathala, Diamonds Thundufushi & Amaya Kuda Rah.
