Local telecommunications provider, Ooredoo Maldives, has yesterday welcomes Maldives to the dawn of a new digital era by the introduction of its 5G services & 5G AirFibre. A special event was held yesterday to mark this new beginning during which the Minister of Communication, Science & Technology, Mr. Mohamed Maleeh Jamal, officially launched the 5G services whilst the Minister of Economic Development, Uz. Fayyaz Ismail, officially launched the 5G AirFibre service.
5G is the newest & fastest generation of mobile networking. It allows you to enjoy vastly improved seamless performance. Lagging and lost connections are a thing of the past whereas superfast, stable downloads, streaming and connectivity are now available wherever you have 5G coverage - even when you’re in busy places. The initial roll out by Ooredoo Maldives covers key areas of Male’ City including business hubs, hospitals, public spaces etc.
On the other hand, the newly introduced 5G AirFibre is the first 5G powered home broadband services in the Maldives providing speeds that are tenfold. This flexible alternative overcomes the challenges faced in installation of fibre optic cables in a congested area such as Male’ City by offering comparable internet speeds to fiber broadband. 5G services and 5G AirFibre will be available for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
Customers who wishes to out 5G and 5G AirFibre services can do so at 5G Experience zoned announced by the telecommunications company. This includes the first 5G powered VR Café’ in the Maldives and Ooredoo Club Premier Lounge.
The introduction of 5G services and 5G AirFibre comes at period of time we are seeing a huge shift towards digitalization.
