In a collaborative effort to celebrate diversity and foster community engagement, Ooredoo Maldives and Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives (MMWM) proudly announce the return of the Migrant Workers' Cricket Carnival. Scheduled for December 1, 2023, this marks the carnival's third annual edition, promising a day of cricket, camaraderie, and essential support for migrant workers.
Ooredoo Maldives reaffirms its commitment as the primary partner for the carnival, standing alongside new collaborators Urbanco and the Maldives Cricket Board. The event, which has become a highlight of MMWM's initiatives, extends gratitude to all partners, including health and legal awareness camp collaborators.
Set to accommodate 40 teams, this year's carnival aims to amplify the celebration. Registration is now open, and prospective participants can sign up through social media, the official website, or the provided application form. The form can be submitted via email to mmwmaldives@gmail.com.
In line with the carnival's tradition, free medical screenings and legal aid will be provided to migrant workers throughout the event. Health camp partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO) Maldives and Society for Health Education (SHE), join hands with legal awareness camp partners such as Transparency Maldives (TM) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
Acknowledging the vital role of sponsors, MMWM expresses gratitude to Ace Travels Maldives, Happy Market, Maldivian Red Crescent, and One Online for their generous contributions. This includes sponsoring awards, providing beverages, offering first aid assistance, and delivering media and photography services.
As MMWM continues its mission to advocate for migrant workers' rights, the cricket carnival stands as a testament to promoting social inclusion and celebrating the diverse migrant community.
