MIRA Identifies 213 Companies for Tax Non-Compliance: 34 for Evading Taxes, 179 for Late Statements

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has released a list of 213 corporate entities, exposing 34 companies for evading regular tax payments and 179 for not submitting tax statements promptly.
The non-compliance encompasses entities that, despite submitting regular tax statements, have failed to fulfill their tax obligations. Among these are companies with outstanding tax amounts surpassing MVR 100,000, covering TGST, GGST, and Green Tax.
Some notably named companies include AAA Trading, Brennia Kottafaru, Jaah Private Limited, Medhufushi Investment Pvt Ltd, and South Palm Resort, among others. These entities have not settled their taxes from October 2022 to March 2023.
MIRA's recent data indicates a total of MVR 7.5 billion in tax receivables from taxable entities and corporations, including MVR 1.8 billion in TGST, MVR 876 million in GGST, and MVR 2.9 billion in resort rent.
