Ooredoo Maldives Upgrades Internet Infrastructure at Velana International Airport by 3x

Via a tweet yesterday, the CEO of Ooredoo Maldives have revealed that they have strengthened internet infrastructure at Velana International Airport by three times for the purpose of catering to the increasing number of tourist arrivals, ensuring that a great internet experience is there to welcome them to the Maldives. The announcement was made following the arrival of the 500k tourist for this year on last Thursday.

Ooredoo Maldives has revolutionized the telecommunication industry of Maldives by introducing the leading edge technologies and telecommunication solutions to the valued customers.

The local telecommunication giant also had launched its first digital kiosk in the Velana International Airport targeted towards tourists, in September, which enables them the registration, payments and instant dispatch of tourist SIM cards in which the service is provided completely contactless.

Maldives is a popular tourist destination, worldwide. The country closed its borders at the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, whereas, the destination reopened for international tourism to all nationalities from 15th July 2020.

The country aims to welcome 1.5 million tourists during the span of 2021, so it is important that every tourist have easy access to quality internet services upon their first stop in the Maldives; the airport.
