Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) took a proactive step in educating and inspiring the younger generation by hosting a successful 'Port Open Day.' Welcoming more than 100 students from various schools in Male’ and the atolls, MPL aimed to kindle their interest in port operations.
Participating schools included Huravee School, Imaduddin School, Kalaafaanu School, Thaajudheen School, Salahuddin School in Hulhumale’, Huvadhoo School, Baa Atoll Educational Centre, N. Hen’badhoo School, and R. Inguraidhoo School.
The event was divided into two key sessions. Students received valuable insights into port-related operations and even had the rare opportunity to witness firsthand the daily workings at the Male’ Commercial Port. Additionally, they engaged in hands-on activities involving the operation of safety and security machinery. The Hulhumale’ International Terminal was also explored.
The primary objective was to ignite curiosity and enthusiasm for potential careers in port operations. The event also served as a platform for MPL to share information about its initiatives and strengthen relationships with stakeholders. As a token of appreciation, MPL held a lucky draw, awarding three laptops to fortunate students. This 'Port Open Day' stands as a testament to MPL's commitment to nurturing interest and knowledge in the field of port operations
