Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has demonstrated commendable efficiency in cargo handling operations for September, processing a total of 6,160 TEUs (equivalent to 4,384 containers) at Male’ Commercial Harbour, as per MPL's latest report.
Throughout September, the harbour maintained an average daily clearance rate of 205 TEUs, accounting for 146 individual containers daily. This, however, reflects a 7% decrease compared to the preceding month.
Providing a detailed breakdown, out of the 4,384 cleared containers, 2,608 were 20-foot containers, while 1,776 were 40-foot containers.
The harbour also welcomed 16 container ships and 17 conventional cargo vessels during September.
Noteworthy perishable items prominently cleared in September include bananas, watermelon, pumpkin, pineapple, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, and eggs, according to MPL's data.
