The ambitious Sh. Noomaraa Harbor Development Project marked a significant milestone on September 27, 2023, with the mobilization of the project site. Valued at MVR 53.3 million, this endeavor promises a transformative upgrade to the existing harbor infrastructure.
The comprehensive scope of work includes a substantial 34,386 cubic meters of new harbor basin dredging operations, accompanied by 5,076 cubic meters of maintenance dredging operations. In addition, the project encompasses crucial elements such as the repair of a 32-meter existing quay wall, construction of an impressive 177-meter quay wall, and the installation of a 303-meter breakwater.
A 64-meter revetment, a 120-meter by 2-meter concrete jetty, and an 11-meter by 11-meter concrete ramp will also be part of the new harbor landscape.
Further enhancements comprise the addition of an access platform, an expanse of 1,652 square meters of harbor pavement, and the strategic placement of harbor lights and mooring buoys. This concerted effort aims to elevate the Sh. Noomaraa Harbor into a dynamic and efficient hub, fostering maritime activities and bolstering regional connectivity.
