Hope on the Horizon: Dh. Dhihdhoo Land Reclamation Project Kickstarts to Solve Housing Woes

In a historic ceremony held on the shores of Ha. Dhihdhoo, the Minister of Defence, Honorable Uz. Mariya Ahmed Didi, officially marked the commencement of the ambitious Ha. Dhihdhoo Land Reclamation Project. This momentous occasion was graced by the presence of MP Abdulla Waheed, CEO Adam Azim, and senior officials from the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The project's significance cannot be overstated. For too long, the residents of Dh. Dhihdhoo have faced formidable challenges, particularly in securing adequate housing and access to land, due to the island's limited space. Recognizing the urgency of this issue, the government has taken action to execute the Ha. Dhihdhoo Land Reclamation Project within the stipulated timeframe.
The scope of this transformative endeavor includes constructing a 1150-meter sand bund wall, reclaiming 623,968 cubic meters of land, reclaiming 10,962 cubic meters of beach area, excavating a 916-meter bioswale trench, laying 916 meters of geotextile, and utilizing 916 meters of coral rubble. This comprehensive initiative comes at a total cost of MVR 83.07 million.

As the project sets sail, hope dawns on the horizon for the people of Dh. Dhihdhoo, promising a brighter future with improved housing solutions and expanded opportunities for all residents.
