In a heartwarming celebration of sportsmanship and dedication, Bank of Maldives (BML) hosted a special event to recognize the exceptional accomplishments of its Sports Scholarship recipients who proudly represented the Maldives at the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2023.

The BML Sports Scholarship, established in partnership with the Maldives Olympics Committee, is a testament to BML’s commitment to fostering sporting excellence in the nation. It offers fully funded scholarships to the country’s top national athletes, enabling them to train and develop their skills at renowned high-performance training centers worldwide.
Six gifted recipients of the Sports Scholarship formed part of the Maldives’ esteemed contingent at the IOIG 2023, where they exhibited their exceptional talents on the grand stage of international sports. Their dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence brought honor to the Maldives.
The following athletes, nurtured through the BML Sports Scholarship, clinched medals at the IOIG:
• Moosa Munsif Ahmed (Table Tennis): Gold in Mixed Doubles, Silver in Men’s Doubles, and Silver in Men’s Team Event.
• Fathimath Jumana Nimal (Table Tennis): Gold in Women’s Team Event.
• Mariyam Ru’ya Ali (Athletics): Bronze in Women’s 4x100m Relay.
• Shuba Mohamed Shareef (Badminton): Silver in Women’s Team Event.
