President Solih Unveils Transformative Infrastructure on R. Madduvari and Dhuvaafaru Islands, Elevating Local Development

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's ongoing tour of local islands has yielded the inauguration of pivotal infrastructure projects, reaffirming the administration's steadfast commitment to island-wide development. The projects, spanning R. Madduvari and Dhuvaafaru Islands in Raa Atoll, underscore the transformative impact of strategic investments in enhancing local communities and residents' quality of life.

The comprehensive initiatives encompass a spectrum of improvements, from new football grounds and road networks to the completion of essential land reclamation and harbor upgrading projects. In the vibrant tapestry of these projects, President Solih inaugurated the upgraded harbor on Madduvari Island, a feat accomplished through the dedicated efforts of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). This milestone entailed the meticulous dredging of the harbor basin and channel, alongside the establishment of a robust 582-meter quay wall and a 135-meter revetment.

Dhuvaafaru Island witnessed a flurry of transformative upgrades, encompassing the strategic addition of 22.2 hectares of reclaimed land. The land reclamation project, expertly executed by MTCC, was further complemented by the construction of an essential protective revetment. The island's connectivity was also bolstered by the completion of a 5.7-kilometer road, poised to enhance mobility and accessibility for residents.

Notably, the tour marked the inauguration of a state-of-the-art football ground on Dhuvaafaru Island. This initiative saw the collaborative efforts of various entities, with the subbase executed by MTCC, turf installation by V.A.M. Company Pvt. Ltd., and light installation by CoreLine Maldives Pvt. Ltd. This multifaceted project is set to invigorate local sports culture, providing athletes with a premium playing surface while cultivating football development.
