Ooredoo Masrace 2023 is steering a course for history this year by becoming the largest fishing competition ever to be hosted in the Maldives with 83 teams participating from across the country. This year’s edition of the highly anticipated annual fishing event received overwhelming support from fishing enthusiasts staged all over the country during the registration process, with a total of 83 registered teams ready to cast their lines on the prize pool this coming August.
As part of the Ooredoo Maldives’ 18th-anniversary festivities, the company has expanded the reach of Ooredoo Masrace 2023 to encompass all four cities in the Maldives: Male’ City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Addu City and Fuvahmulah City. The much-awaited event will take place throughout the month of August in different locations nationwide on the following dates:
-Male’ City: 4th August
-Kulhudhuffushi City: 11th August
-Addu City: 18th August
-Fuvahmulah City: 25th August
With a staggering number of teams in participation, Ooredoo Masrace 2023 is expected to be fierce as each team eyes to take the championship title in their respective city. Male’ City in particular, will be a cut-throat battle with an unprecedented 34 teams laying claim to the prizes. Kulhudhuffushi City closely follows with 23 teams and 13 teams each will be competing from Addu City and Fuvahmulah City. The winning teams can look forward to reeling in big cash prizes! This includes:

·2nd Place Team: MVR 10,000
· 3rd Place Team: MVR 5,000
·Best Fisherman: MVR 1,000
·Best Fisherwoman: MVR 1,000
Ooredoo Masrace 2023 is also proud to announce the return of STELCO Kanbalun, an all-girls team who are the reigning champions of last year's competition. This remarkable achievement stands to show the spirit of empowerment and equality that exists in the Maldivian fishing community. The response of fishing fanatics all over the country towards the event is a testament to the excitement and passion the Ooredoo Masrace manages to recreate in the community each year.
