On Tuesday, Maldives Transport & Contracting Company (MTCC) signed an agreement with the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) to develop fisheries complexes in GA. Kooddoo and GDh. As part of this agreement, MTCC is responsible for developing a fisheries complex on Thinadhoo island and expanding the capacity of the existing Kooddoo Fisheries Complex. The scope of the project encompasses several civil works. This includes carrying out work at the cold storage and associated facilities of GDh. Thinadhoo and paving works at the MIFCO Industrial Zone.
The scope of the capacity-building project in Kooddoo include developing the Kooddoo Harbour Kalaminja unloading jetty and reclamation of the reefer container yard. In addition to this, MTCC will also be laying down the foundation of the new brine freezer building and carrying out its civil works at GA. Kooddoo. The total value of the combined projects under this contract amounts to MVR 42.26 million.
During the press briefing held, the CEO of MTCC Adam Azim expressed his understanding of the government's commitment to developing the fishing industry.
