On Wednesday, the new Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Bhutan, His Excellency Ibrahim Shaheeb presented his letter of credence to the King of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. The credential presenting ceremony took place during the morning hours of 14th June 2023 in the Grand Kuenray at Tashichhodzong.
Following the ceremony, the King of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and expressed confidence that the new Ambassador will work towards strengthening the close relations between the Maldives and Bhutan. During his brief audience with the King, Ambassador Shaheeb conveyed the warmest greetings and good wishes from the President, people, and government of Maldives to the King of Bhutan.
Moreover, the newly accredited Ambassador stated that it was a privilege to have the opportunity to work for the mutual benefit of both countries and reaffirmed his commitment to closely work towards consolidating the existing cordial partnership between the Maldives and Bhutan during his tenure. He was accompanied to the ceremony by the First Secretary at the High Commission of Maldives in India, Mr. Mohamed Najeel.
During his visit to Bhutan, Ambassador Shaheeb will also pay courtesy calls on the Prime Minister of Bhutan, His Excellency Dr. Lotay Tshering and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan, His Excellency Dr. Tandi Dorji at separate events. Additionally, he is expected to hold meetings with senior government officials of Bhutan as well.
