Minister of State for External Affairs of India Concludes His Official Visit to the Maldives

On Monday, the Minister of State for External Affairs of India, His Excellency V. Muraleedharan departed from Velana International Airport after successfully concluding his two-day Official Visit to the Maldives. He was seen off at Velana International Airport by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his visit, he met with the President of Maldives, His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and recalled the long-standing bonds of friendship between both countries. State Minister Muraleedharan also paid a call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid where both sides reviewed the significant milestones achieved in bilateral relations between the countries during the past four years.

Both Minister Shahid and the Indian State Minister also spoke on the currently ongoing projects facilitated under the grants and lines of credit extended to the Government of Maldives from the Government of India through the Export Import Bank of India and the High Impact Community Development Scheme. On this, Minister Shahid expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the government and people of India for their constant support to the Maldives.

As part of his visit, the Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid presided over and witnessed the exchange of ten Memoranda of Understanding between the Government of Maldives and the Government of India. During the ceremony, the Government of India also gifted Antituberculosis medicine to the Government of Maldives as well.

In addition to this, State Minister Muraleedharan attended the momentous ceremony of the revolutionary Addu City reclamation project and GIA development project constructed under the Indian line of Credit. He also joined Minister Shahid in jointly inaugurating the Hithadhoo Tourism Zone – Falhoadhanifannu, Feydhoo Tourism Zone – Dhigihera and Hulhudhoo Tourism Zone – Maafishi developed under Indian grant assistance to Addu City.
