The President Officially Inaugurates Water & Sewerage Services in F.Magoodhoo

On Wednesday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially inaugurated the water and sewerage services on Magoodhoo Island in Faafu Atoll. The project was contracted to Altech Maldives Pvt. Ltd in 2019. Under this project, a water system was established on the island which will provide water services by combining desalinated water and rainwater.

For this project, two Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants were installed on the island comprising two tanks of 230 cbm and with a capacity of 35 tonnes per day. Moreover, a water network spanning 5.4 km has been developed on Magoodhoo which will supply water to 168 houses on the island.

Apart from this, two pumping stations were also constructed on the island with 4.2 km long pipes laid down to connect sewerage services to 168 households. Through this project, it is expected to improve the standard of living of the residents of the island by acquiring basic essential necessities like access to clean drinking water and effective sewerage facilities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the President and First Lady Fazna Ahmed along with the Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Mohamed Aslam and the parliament member of the constituency. The formal launching formed part of the President’s official visit to Faafu atoll.
