Pedestrian Crossing Lights Installed In Hulhumale’

Last Friday, pedestrian crossing lights were operationalized in Hulhumale’ city for the first time. The crossing lights were launched by Vice President His Excellency Faisal Naseem during a special ceremony held Friday evening. The crossing lights were put in place in locations where their help would be necessary to pedestrians, especially during peak traffic hours.

Urbanco stated that pedestrian crossing lights are now in use in many parts of the world and would help residents and visitors in Hulhumale’ cross safely during high-traffic hours. This in turn would help to create a safer environment for people in the city. The initiative also aligns with Urbanco’s commitment to ensuring road safety in Hulhumale’.

The pedestrian crossing lights will be installed in 8 locations around Hulhumale’. These locations were selected after thorough observation and research which marked zebra crosses and other areas where residents are in dire need of crossing safety.

As of now, the crossing lights have been established in front of the zebra crossing of Hulhumale’ Hospital and near the Hiyaa Flats area in Hulhumale’ Phase 2. People who want to cross the street are required to press the designated button on the lights which would indicate their intention to cross. The light will then turn green for a time period, during which vehicles will stop allowing people to cross the street easily and safely.
