BML Announces 10 Winning Proposals in the First Phase of its Community Fund

Bank of Maldives (BML) has revealed the 10 winning projects that are featured in the first phase of its Community Fund for this year. The winning proposals were submitted from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) across the country to fund various community-based projects that address pertinent needs in their respective communities.

The BML Community Fund supports sustainable development in the Maldives by empowering NGOs to contribute to their communities through such projects. Sports, Education, Environment and Community Development are some of the thematic areas that are frequently reflected in winning proposals.

The projects selected for phase 1 of this year include:
1. Skate Park – R. Dhuvaafaru, submitted by Dhuvaafaru Zuvaanunge Jamiyya
2. Shaded waiting space for parents & children – Gn. Fuvahmulah, submitted by Dhadimagu Zuvaanunge Jamiyya
3. Development of Olhamathaa Eco Park Phase 2 – Gdh. Hoadedhoo, dubmitted by Hoadedhoo Sports
4 Dhodhi picnic & camping area – B. Dharavandhoo, submitted by Dharavandhoo Ekuveri Zuvaanun
5. Development of Thinadhoo Kulhi – Gdh. Thinadhoo, submitted by Huvadhoo Swimming Club
6. Reading Park at Mulak School – M. Mulak, submitted by Community Empowerment Linkage (CEL)
7. Harbour waiting area – L. Kunahandhoo, submitted by Kunahandhoo Island Nomination Group
8. Procuring sports equipment for Nellaidhoo School – Hdh. Nellaidhoo, submitted by Fato Sports Academy
9. Ocean Education Program – S. Hithadhoo, submitted by Maldives Manta Conservation Program
10. Harbour waiting area & public restrooms – S. Feydhoo, submitted by Addu Eco Club

So far, the BML Community Fund has provided financial assistance to 90 projects in different parts of the country, bringing tremendous improvements to the lives of communities all over the Maldives. This also aligns with Maldives’ commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals stated in Agenda 30.
