The Swiss Ambassador Pays A Farewell Call On Foreign Minister

On Sunday, the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Maldives, Dominik Furgler paid a farewell call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid. During the meeting, Minister Shahid congratulated the Swiss Ambassador on the successful completion of his tenure.

At the meeting, Minister Shahid and Ambassador Furgler spoke on ways to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the Maldives and Switzerland, particularly in areas of trade and economic cooperation. They also reflected on the strong partnership existing between the two countries in the multilateral sphere. Minister Shahid also thanked the Swiss Ambassador for his hard work in enhancing the relations between the Maldives and Switzerland during his tenure.

Ambassador Furgler also shared with Minister Shahid of the Swiss Government’s decision to join the VFS Visa Centre in Male’ which will facilitate the visa application process for Maldivians travelling to several European countries. This includes Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia and Liechtenstein. Minister Shahid expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Furgler and the Swiss Government for this decision.

Minister Shahid was accompanied during the farewell call by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Ahmed Latheef, Secretary, Bilateral Dr. Hala Hameed, Secretary, Economic Cooperation Dr. Hussain Niyaaz and Desk Officer Aminath Shaistha Hamdan Zaki.
