JLF Soneva Fushi To Hold One-Day Festival Event In Male’

To commemorate the return of the ‘greatest literary show on Earth’ to the shores of the award-winning property, Soenva Fushi, the resort is hosting a special one-day Festival at the Maldives National University in Male’ on May 16th, 2023. Open for everyone to attend, the event will bring together a handful of local talents and international creatives under one platform for an inspiring cultural programme.

Some of the featured activities included in the itinerary are book signings with acclaimed authors, thought-provoking readings and live music performances. Moreover, welcome speeches will be delivered by the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, H.E. Munu Mahawar and MD of Festival producers Teamwork Arts, Sanjoy K. Roy.

As part of the one-day festival, visitors will get the opportunity to meet and mingle with JLF Soneva Fushi speaker Christina Lamb – best-selling author, foreign journalist and chief Foreign Correspondent at The Sunday Times. Lamb has reported from several locations worldwide including Afghanistan and Ukraine and authored 10 books including Our Bodies, Their Battlefields and What War Does to Women. She also co-wrote the book I Am Malala with Malala Yousafzai.

Lamb will share the spotlight with several other globally acclaimed names such as Professor Sharad P. Paul – author, skin cancer specialist and philanthropist. Paul was the author of The Genetics of Health and Skin: A Biography and is the recipient of the prestigious Ko Awatea International Excellence Award for Leading Health Improvement on a Global Scale. 

Joining the international lineup are published Maldivian authors like Nadha Ibrahim Zuhair, author of Between the Stills and Pauses, and Aminath Shirneem, author of A Medium Rare Heart and The One with the Blue Pages. Ahmed Mahid well-renowned for his popular serialized short stories and contributions to Ocean Weekly will also be joining in the event. Moreover, local musicians Dhifoo and Zayaan will take centre stage at the festival too, bringing a mix of genres and instrumentals in their signature style.

The second edition of JLF Soneva Fushi will be hosted at Soneva Fushi from May 12-21, 2023. Bringing the best of art, music and literature to the table, special Festival Day Passes are now available for USD 300, which include full access to the programme, gala celebrations on the sand and electric live entertainment as well as lunch with soft beverages and access to Soneva’s signature chocolate and ice cream parlours.
