President Appoints Member To The Maldives Broadcasting Commission

On Tuesday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Safa Shafeeq as a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC). MBC is an independent institution that governs the implementation of the Broadcasting Act (Law No. 16/2010).

Following her appointment, the President presented the letter of Appointment to Safa Shafeeq at a special ceremony held at the President’s Office yesterday. In the meeting that followed, the President and Ms. Shafeeq discussed pertinent issues related to the broadcasting sector.

Ms. Shafeequ holds a Master of Arts in Social Policy from the Maldives National University (MNU) and a Master of Arts in Communication from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) in Malaysia. She has also been working as a television personality for state broadcaster Public Service Media since 2006 onwards.
