On Thursday, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) in collaboration with Care Society Maldives launched an internship programme for students of the organization. The internship will be completed by four students belonging to the Care Society at Velana International Airport (VIA).
During the inauguration ceremony, MACL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Care Society under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. The MoU was signed between the Deputy Manager Director of MACL, Ibrahim Thoha and the Executive Director of Care Society, Ahmed Athif.
Through this internship, the students will be able to acquire valuable work experience and learn how to navigate a work environment while becoming independent. Moreover, they will also be able to prove that they have the potential to excel in the workplace like any of their colleagues as well.
Under the MoU signed, MACL has also agreed to sponsor 1-year course fees for two students currently completing Vocational Training and Education Enhancement programmes at the Care Society. Additionally, Care Society fund boxes will be placed at prominent locations in the airport.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Managing Director of MACL, Ibrahim Thoha stated that the MoU signed under the MACL’s CSR initiative is an important step taken to provide support to vulnerable individuals in the society in a sustainable way. He added that all MACL’s CSR initiatives centre around main themes such as sustainable development, supporting persons with special needs and enhancing the educational and environmental fields.
The Executive Director of Care Society, Ahmed Athif remarked that the full extent of necessary assistance can be provided to persons with disabilities within the CSR framework of big companies in the Maldives. He also noted that this internship marks the beginning of such initiatives and thanked MACL for its support provided to society.
