Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Maldivian nationals travelling to Cambodia will be exempted from visa effective from 4th May 2023. With this visa exemption, Maldivians holding Diplomatic, Official and Ordinary passports can enter and stay in Cambodia for a maximum of 30 days from their day of entry.
The visa exemption agreement was signed between the two countries on 16th January 2023 as part of the Cambodian Prime Minister’s official visit to the Maldives. In accordance with this, the agreement was realized starting from today onwards. However, Maldivians intending to stay for a period longer than 30 days for work or educational purposes, or to conduct business in Cambodia must acquire an appropriate visa prior to their travels.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it stated that the Government of Maldives regards the visa exemption to Cambodia as a commitment to further enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries. In addition to this, the statement also noted that this will pave the way for stronger people-to-people contact, business and investment opportunities between the Maldives and Cambodia.
