Dhiraagu Thashibari Movement – Beyond Ramadan!

During Ramadan 2023, Dhiraagu reinstated its popular Thashibari Movement once again, after a three-year hiatus owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Titled '#MammageVedhun' this year’s Thashibari Movement was in line with Dhiraagu's Ramadan campaign which focused on appreciating mothers and celebrating them. Each person who received a #MammageVedhun thashibari nominated someone else to take part in the movement and passed it along with their mother's signature dish.

The aim of this campaign was to rekindle the spirit of giving and revive the time-honoured Maldivian practice of exchanging food during Ramadan. But it need not end with the month! We Maldivians have always practised the art of sharing kindness – be it food or other essentials with each other – and this beautiful tradition can be continued any time of the year. There is certainly no time limit to when you can be generous and make someone’s day.

So, dust off your thashibari or even any container and pass along your best dishes to your loved ones and people around you, be it to neighbours, family, friends, or even a stranger in need.
