On Sunday, the Special Awards Committee opened nominations for the ‘President’s Award for Special Achievement’. Following the announcement, the award criteria for nominations have been published in the Government Gazette. Interested individuals can download the form through the President’s Office website at the designated portal ‘Form Hushahelhun’.
The President’s Award for Special Achievement is awarded to recipients whose skills and performance generated a source of national pride and whose substantial contributions led to national progress and prosperity. This year’s award will be given under four main categories by the President.
The first category is dedicated to nominees who have attained commendable achievements in higher education and training. This includes obtaining a Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) level 10 qualification, publication of research in an international journal and qualifications between MQA levels 7 & 9 at the highest standard with the highest grade for a research project or dissertation.
The second category is allocated to individuals who have excelled or achieved the highest rank in an international competition or exhibition. The third category is designed for enterprising individuals who have created innovative practical resolutions or exceptional solutions to critical national challenges through academic research.
The fourth and last category is assigned to individuals whose creativity and innovation have enhanced national development. This category particularly highlights the youth of the country with candidates between the age of 18 and 35 eligible for the awards. The President’s Award for Special Achievement will be presented to recipients at the official reception held to mark this year's Independence Day. Interested individuals can submit nominations till 1500 hours on Thursday, 1st June 2023.
