On Monday, Vice President Faisal Naseem attended an awareness session held by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) under its ‘Fahiraastha’ campaign. Speaking at the session, the Vice President made remarks that a whole-of-society approach is required to ensure road safety and called on government offices, institutions, and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to extend their support to the MPS in increasing awareness of the problem.
Speaking further, Vice President Faisal Naseem stated that all government institutions and SOEs are tasked with the responsibility of creating awareness about road safety in their workplaces and among employees. In regard to this, he also urges all participants who attended the session to put in efforts to improve road safety at both work and home.
Calling attention to the rise in road accidents in recent weeks during Ramadan, the Vice President advised all drivers to commit to road safety and to ensure that both drivers and other road users are also not at risk. The session was attended by senior officials of government offices and institutions and SOEs, and featured a presentation on the number and causes of road accidents in the Greater Malé Region.
