The High Commissioner Of Pakistan To The Maldives Pays A Courtesy Call On Vice President

On Sunday, the High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Vice Admiral (Retired) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of the Maldives, His Excellency Faisal Naseem. The meeting took place at the President’s Office on 9th April 2023.

During the meeting, the Vice President and the Pakistani High Commissioner discussed various matters of mutual interest and explored avenues to further strengthen the cordial relations between the two countries. They noted the decades-long ties existing between both countries based on mutual values and interests and spoke about enhancing air connectivity between the Maldives and Pakistan.

Moreover, the High Commissioner and the Vice President exchanged dialogues to enhance ties in tourism, culture, sports, training and education and spoke on continuing stalled discussions on Memoranda of Understanding in different sectors. At the meeting, Vice President Faisal Naseem also inquired about the aftermath of the devasting floods that caused havoc in Pakistan last year.

The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their eagerness to continue relations and cooperation for many more years to come. The Maldives first established diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on July 26th, 1966.
