Maafushi Island Council Reopens Applications For Land Plots From Newly Reclaimed Area

Maafushi Island Council has once again opened the opportunity to submit applications for the acquisition of 308 land plots from the newly reclaimed land area. The applications were reopened following the amendments brought to the regulations for allocating land for residential purposes.

A total of 308 land plots of 2000 square metres have been allocated for application from the reclaimed part of Maafushi island. Interested parties applying for the land plots must meet a certain criterion. This includes not having received a land title or private land or land larger than 600ft from an island in the Maldives. Moreover, the applying individual also must not have any government-built building or flat registered under their name as well.

Interested parties can download the application form from the Government Gazette or directly request it from the Maafushi Council. Applications will be accepted from April 9th onwards till June 15th between 0930-1300 hours on every working day. Maafushi Island is renowned for its booming local tourism business with many investors seeking land from the island to develop tourist guest establishments.
