Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) have announced that it will be operating separate bus services for school children on three routes of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) in Huilhumale’. The special arrangements will be effective till the end of the Ramadan month and were put into place to reduce waiting hours for students and parents during the month.
Separate bus services will be conducted on Route 6, Route 7, and Route 8. A designated bus will depart from Hulhumale’ Hiya Flat Bus Stop 1 at 0805 hours on Route 7 and Route 8 every day except for official holidays. The bus can be boarded from 0750 onwards and will accommodate one parent with each child.
On Route 6, which is operated between Hulhumale Phase 1 and Phase 2, several buses catering to school children will be operated. However, the bus will only make stops at specific bus stops including the one in Phase 2 and the Synthetic Track Stop and Amin Avenue Stop in Phase 1. Commuters can find out additional information about the bus routes by contacting the hotline number of MTCC.
With the establishment of bus services in the Greater Male’ region, over 25,000 commuters make use of RTL bus services on a daily basis. Since school hours and office hours coincide during Ramadan, there is an increased demand for bus services which results in longer waiting hours at stops. MTCC is promptly working to resolve these issues at the moment.
