The Vice Chairman of CIDCA Pays A Courtesy Call On The Vice President of Maldives

On Sunday, the Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), Mr. Deng Boqing paid a courtesy call to the Vice President of the Maldives, His Excellency Faisal Naseem. The meeting was held at the President’s Office during the morning hours of April 2, 2023.

During the meeting, the Vice President and the Vice Chairman of CIDCA reflected on the strong bilateral relationship between the Maldives and China which has spanned more than 5 decades now. They also acknowledged the improved relations and commitments fulfilled in recent years. The two also spoke on areas of mutual interest including tourism, healthcare, infrastructure development, climate action and adaptation.

At the meeting, Vice President Faisal Naseem noted China’s invaluable contributions to the socioeconomic development of the Maldives and affirmed the Maldives’ commitment to upholding the friendly ties built over the years. Recalling the climate change crisis, the Vice President stressed that the Maldives would need the support of all its partners to combat the uncertainties of climate change, particularly in accessing finance to build resilient communities.

Before concluding the meeting, the Vice President and the Vice Chairman of CIDCA reiterated their commitment to closely working together and collaborating in areas that strengthen existing relationships. They also expressed their eagerness in pursuing further collaborations between countries.
