President Appoints New Minister At The President’s Office

On Wednesday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Ibrahim Waheed as the new Minister at the President’s Office. The newly appointed Minister was presented with his letter of appointment yesterday afternoon at a designated ceremony held at the President’s Office.

Prior to his posting to the President’s Office, Ibrahim Waheed filled numerous roles in government agencies and bodies. He had been the Chairman of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) from April 2009 to February 2012 and was the Financial Executive and State Minister for the Ministry of Health and Family during the administration of ex-president Mohamed Nasheed.

He also served as the Company Secretary for the Maldives Stock Exchange from September 2007 to March 2018 and played an instrumental role as the Deputy Managing Director and member of the Board of Directors of FENAKA Corporation Ltd. He was appointed to the position of Minister at the President’s Office following the dismissal of the former Minister, Mohamed Shifaz.
