Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) have been contracted by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure to carry out infrastructure development projects in four islands of the Maldives. The projects vary from coastal shore protection to harbour development and will take place across Himmafushi island, Mathiveri island, Kendhikulhudhoo island and Kulhudhuffushi City.
The contract agreements were signed between the Director General of the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Fathimath Shaana Farooq and the Chief Executive Officer of MTCC, Adam Azim. The signing ceremony was witnessed by representatives of both the Planning Ministry and MTCC.
In Kulhudhuffushi City, MTCC will conduct a jetty expansion project valued at MVR 12.10 Million. The scope of the project includes harbour-basin dredging operations of a 1531 cbm area, expansion of timber jetties and establishment of timber platforms between jetties. Moreover, the company will also conduct remedial works on the breakwater around the jetty as well. The whole project is set to be finished within 250 days.
In AA. Mathiveri island, MTCC will proceed with coastal shore protection project works which include a 54m revetment, groyne establishment in a 483m area, and construction of a 111m breakwater. The project is valued at MVR 23.04 Million and is scheduled to be completed within 240 days.
Likewise, on Himmafushi Island another coastal shore protection project will feature under the agreements signed between the ministry and MTCC. The Himmafushi coastal shore protection project will include a 160m revetment, 53m groyne establishment and a 127m breakwater. The project is given a timeline of 180 days and is valued at MVR 10.93 Million.
On N. Kendhikulhudhoo island, MTCC will undertake a harbour development project. The project was contracted at a value of MVR 73.16 Million and is scheduled to be completed within 500 days.
