Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives To Italy Presents Credentials

On Thursday, the non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of Italy, His Excellency Dr. Asim Ahmed presented his letter of credence to the President of the Italian Republic, His Excellency Mr. Sergio Mattarella. The ceremony took place at the Quirinale Palace in Rome, Italy on 9^th February 2023.

During the credential presenting ceremony, Ambassador Asim Ahmed conveyed warm greetings from the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the Maldives to the President and the people of Italy. Moreover, Ambassador Asim also expressed his commitment to working closely together with the Italian government during his tenure to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries with a renewed focus.

During his official visit to Italy, Ambassador Asim Ahmed held meetings with other senior officials from the Government of Italy and discussed avenues to further enhance the traditional and friendly ties existing between the two nations. The Ambassador was accompanied on his visit by Mr. Hassan Hussain Shiba, Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations and other International Organizations at Geneva.
