The High Commissioner of Seychelles Presents Credentials To The President

Monday, February 27, 2023- The High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency, Claude Morel presented his letter of Credence to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The ceremony took place at the President’s Office today during the morning hours.
The President extended his felicitations to the High Commissioner on assuming office and the ceremony was followed by a meeting where both parties engaged in productive dialogue. Some of the subjects discussed during the meeting include improving maritime security, counter-narcotics cooperation, anti-human trafficking cooperation, tourism and the fisheries sector.

Speaking at the meeting, High Commissioner Morel recognized the work done by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid (ODRI) during his tenure as President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He also spotlighted the instrumental role played by the Maldives in the global flora on climate-related issues and at the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).

Speaking further, the High Commissioner of Seychelles also expressed gratitude to President Solih for undertaking an official state visit to Seychelles in 2019 and added that the momentous occasion has further augmented relationships between the two island nations. Before concluding the meeting, the President conveyed his best wishes and hopes to High Commissioner Morel on witnessing enhanced relations and cooperation between both sides during his tenure.
