Adh. Mandhoo Harbour Development Project Progresses Towards Completion

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) contracted with the development of the Adh. Mandhoo harbour announced that the project is swiftly progressing with 73% of the work completed at the project site. Providing updates on the project, MTCC stated that the construction of the quay wall is finished, and harbour pavement installation is currently ongoing at the site with 44% of the operations completed.

Valued at MVR 29.3 million, the Mandhoo island harbour development project takes addresses many essential areas. The scope of the project includes dredging and excavation operations for a 52,271cbm area and channel dredging operations for a 35,849cbm area. Moreover, the project also features the construction of a 266m quay wall and a 40m breakwater. Additionally, 156m revetment and 186m groynes will be installed as part of the project as well.

Apart from this, the harbour development project will include finishing works such as the installation of harbour and streetlights and navigational aids for users. Furthermore, harbour pavement will be laid down across a 1275 sqm area. Once the project is completed, it is expected to bring many benefits to the residents of the island by making travel and trade more accessible to and from the island.
