The President Confers National Award for Public Service To 86 Recipients

On Thursday evening, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih bestowed the National Award for Public Service at a special ceremony held at Dharubaaruge to mark the occasion. This year, the awards were conferred to 86 long-serving public servants, honouring their long servitude in national service.

The National Award for Public Service is a prestigious accolade conferred by the President on individuals who have served the nation for more than 35 years and have maintained an excellent track record as diligent and steadfast employees. Incorporated in 2021, the awards recognize the contributions made by such individuals towards the development of their respective fields throughout their careers.

The National Awards Committee presided over the selection process and chose civil servants in various capacities of government offices and institutions as recipients. 25 of the recipients selected were women with Ms Sobira Waheed receiving the National Award for over 50 years of service at the Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Ltd. (MWSC). At the ceremony, Ms Hawwa Nasiha, Chief Librarian at the National Library addressed the audience on behalf of the recipients.
